I have been a believer for most of my life, and have attended churches both large and small. I have noticed in the past several years that the "Business" side of being a church has become mired in corporate greed and bottom lines. The "Success" of the church, instead of being gauged in souls saved, and lives repaired, has been replaced with items that can be tallied in an Excel spreadsheet.
In my very humble opinion, if the economic downturn that is going on currently has effected your church's bottom line, one of 2 things are going on. Either your church leadership has been spending money recklessly, and has forgotten to "Stock up the warehouses," or your church leadership has been too lax on preaching the necessity of tithing. When only a small percentage of the church tithes, it is detrimental to the entire congregation. The other possibility is that your church actually follows a prescribed business model, and operates a pyramid scheme, with salvation as the "Product."
I have personally known several ministers who view their church position as a "Job" that they are to perform on prescribed days, then live the rest of their lives forgetting that "Someone up there" is watching.
Enough for now, I'm getting more upset the more I think about it....
Listen up people, if you're going to booze it up, stay the hell off of the road.
Autumn has arrived with a vengeance! It has been great to sleep with the windows open for the past few nights, awakening to vericool air coming in, and the dog chomping at the bit to come up and join us in bed for a few hours.
Hard to believe that we've been in our new house for almost a year now. Owning a home is something that I had sworn off of completely, and never wanted to do again. Funny how lifes circumstances and desires change over time!

The wife and I both voted tonight, and voted for Huckabee. Go get 'em!
Mike Huckabee. I think that this guy is gonna pull it off! At this point I'm pretty sure that I'm going to vote for him. I was pulling for Fred, and he could still pull through and get my vote, but I love the sound of "President Huckabee." That is SOOOO American!
So, ok, it has been OVER a year since I used this space to post something even close to real. A lot has changed since then! My wife and I moved, I started a new job with a software company, we went to Vegas for a long weekend, we took a road trip so I could show her where I went to college, and we could spend some time at the "Great Lakes Riviera," LOL. Also, we just bought our first house. We close at the end of December, and are going to move in slowly over the next 3 months.
I miss my friends in Chicago horribly. Shout out to the Cleos Crew!!!!! We have been back to visit 2 or 3 times, but it never feels often enough. My former roomie Maggie has always been sweet enough to house us on our visits. She needs to come and visit us!
How could I forget, I finished the last Harry Potter book. It was very sweet sorrow. It is the end of a line. A few of my predictions came true, but I'm not going to go into that. We don't want to be spoilers around here!
I have let go of a few domains that I have owned for a few years, I just decided that I'm not going to do anything with them.
Since I have been playing the bass guitar since the 4th grade, the challenge has worn off a little. This year I'm going to learn to play the guitar. I have a Fender Telecaster, and a Fender Blues Junior amp, both great to learn on. I have also decided that I'm going to take some stained glass classes.
